Bricklight Courtyard

Planning and dedication leads to a neighborhood’s revival. The Bricklight Courtyards is a 45,000 square foot mixed use development located in Albuquerque’s University Area. Bricklight consists of 7,200 square feet of retail space and 46 residential apartments distributed throughout four buildings, which are separated from one another by courtyards. Each building has retail space along the street with the residential units behind and above.

Two colors of brick were used on the street facades, and four colors of stucco delineate the retail spaces from each residential units and each building level.

The materials and colors provide an updated version of those found in the immediate vicinity, without appearing trendy. The interiors of the residential unit are unsurpassed in the rental market. The open floor plans provide ultimate lifestyle flexibility, tenants can select from four individual interior color schemes, which include a variety of attractive materials including solid surface countertops, glass tile backsplashes and contemporary lighting.

A series of factors came together to make Bricklight the crown jewel of Harvard Drive. Nearly three years of planning and partnership between the owners, architect, builders, neighborhood association and city allowed for the anticipation and mitigation of many challenges. In the end, this mixed-use development serves as an example of how an owner’s vision combined with the right partnerships can revitalize a neighborhood.
